The little exclamation point-shaped light on your dashboard is your Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) indicator. When it comes on, it means that your tire pressure is below what it should be. The TPMS Sensor constantly monitors the air pressure in your tires and when it drops below the manufacturer’s recommended level, the indicator light comes on. This can be measured in different ways, depending on the vehicle. Commonly, there will be a device mounted to your rim that measures tire pressure specifically. This sends data to your car’s electronic computer system. Alternatively, some TPMS Sensors work in tandem with your anti-lock brake system to measure wheel revolutions. When wheels rotate at different speeds, it could mean one or more tires are not inflated to the proper level.
During a TPMS maintenance service, our service staff will run a series of tests to ensure that the system is operating both correctly and at maximum efficiency. If our technicians uncover damage to the system or its accompanying components, they may need to replace valve cores, valve nuts, seals, seal washers, or valve caps. If you are in need of TPMS repairs, maintenance, or replacement services, or if you are in need of a TPMS installation service, then call us or schedule an appointment today.
